Penallta Youth played a friendly game on Friday evening against Bargoed so that both sides could field some squad players who as yet haven't had much game time.  To this end Penallta rested six forwards and a back which allowed the coaches to try out players in new positions.  The Youth also started three 16 year olds including Under Sixteens forward Nick Bishop who made an excellent youth debut at hooker.

With Rhys Powell (Pouchy ) and Craig Bourne, both 16 , having  good performances at winger and second row respectively, Penallta were unlucky not to turn the early pressure into points .

As the first half progressed so did Bargoed's dominance in the set pieces and they built up a half time lead of 12 nil

In the second half  Penallta continued to threat to score but it seemed every time Bargoed counter attacked they scored through some  beautiful inter back play lead by their scrum half Jonathon Evans who was, without doubt, man of the match.

Penallta didn't give up and kept up some good attacking moves lead by scrum half turned no8 Howie Walsh who crossed the line for Penallta's only score of the day.
